Worth mentioning due to the fact that it’s the only town of any size between Kota Kinabalu and Beufort, Papar is a quiet, little coastal Kadazan town 38km south of KK. If you’re in the area then head on over to the nearby Pantai Manis (Sweet Beach) which is about seven kilometres from town – the isolated shoreline is perfect for a quiet stroll near the surf. There are several buses and minivans that ply routes between Papar and KK, starting from behind the Wawasan Plaza shopping centre.
