Papar Beach Hotels
Where to stay in Papar Beach
Worth mentioning due to the fact that it’s the only town of any size between Kota Kinabalu and Beufort, Papar is a quiet, little coastal Kadazan town 38km south of KK. Mainly consisting of long, low shop houses, Papar’s most famous local produce is coconut wine and its weekly tamu (market) is a popular affair among residents.
If you’re in the area then head on over to the nearby Pantai Manis (Sweet Beach) which is about seven kilometres from town – the isolated shoreline is perfect for a quiet stroll near the surf. There are several buses and minivans that ply routes between Papar and KK, starting from behind the Wawasan Plaza shopping centre. Accommodation options are scattered and if you’re looking for a good mid-range deal then try the Beringgis Beach Resort – the three-star venture’s got clean, comfortable and inexpensive rooms.
